First is from Asus. We have written about the Padfone last year when Asus first started providing information about this interesting phone/tablet concept. I love this concept. On on hand, you have a typical smartphone but running Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor, Android 4.0, 1GB RAM, and 4.3" 960x540 Super AMOLED qHD screen. But you can dock the phone in a tablet casing to transform your phone into a fully functional 10" Android tablet. Add a keyboard and now you have a "notebook". No word on price or availability. US carriers may balk at this since they would not like customers having one data plan for their phone/tablet. But the Padfone is not the only tablet that Asus is launching this year. They will also have Transformer Pad Infinity, which has a higher resolution screen and faster processor than the Transformer Prime. Asus will also launch a less expensive line - Transformer Pad 300 series.
Next Samsung announced next version of Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 although no major changes. Samsung will also now pair its S pen stylus to the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Viewsonic announced three tablets for release: G70, E100 and P100. The G70 tablet features a 7" 1024 x 600-pixel capacitive IPS display, 1GB RAM, 4GB of storage, microSD slot, 3G, Wi-Fi, a 2MP rear camera, a VGA front camera and Android 4.0. The 9.7" E100 tablet sports 1024 x 768-pixel resolution with IPS screen technology, Android 4.0 and a 1GHz processor. Finally, the P100 features a 10" 1280 x 800-pixel IPS display with a 1.6GHz Intel N2600 dual-core processor running Windows 7. No word on pricing or availability.
Finally, Toshiba announced a 7.7" AT270 Android tablet. The AT270 will feature Tegra 3 processor and a 1200 x 800 Super AMOLED screen. Toshiba also noted that a monstrous 13" tablet will be launched. (Why??)
