Sony Tablet S to Launch 9/16

Sony's first tablet, S, will go on sale on or around 9/16.  The 16GB device will start at $499 while the 32GB will cost $599.  You can preorder the device now at Sony.com.  The 9.4" tablet will have Android HoneyComb (3.x), have Android Market installed, built-in universal remote, music and new release movies through Sony Entertainment Network and play PlayStation games since this is a PlayStation-certified device.  The tablet market continues to get crowded and manufacturers are trying to differentiate their device from others.  Features will be important but so will pricing.

Sony's unique clamshell tablet, P, which features two 5.5" screens is different and may be a tablet to consider for its mobility.  The tablet can be folded together for easy transportation.  Pricing will be key.  No word on release date or pricing.

Video of Sony's S2 Dual Screen Tablet

Sony announced a while ago that it will be introducing two Android tablets, S1 and S2.  S1 would be your typical Android tablet with dual core processor running Android Honeycomb (3.0).  However, the S2 is unique in that it is a dual-screen clamshell tablet... almost like a Nintendo DS XL.  The S2 will sport two 5.5" 1024x480 screens in addition to the dual core processor.  Both would be PlayStation Certified.
