Archos to release 5 Android Tablets This Fall

While most companies are releasing their first and only tablet, Archos is hitting the market hard by introducing five (5) Android Tablets in the next month or so.  These five range in size from a tiny 2.8" screen to a large 10.1".  Our belief is 7" - 10" is the sweet spot in screen size so we will be focusing on these large tablets.  What is interesting and impressive is that all five will feature Android 2.2 (Froyo) and a Cortex A8 processor!  Therefore, these are Flash capable.  What is even more impressive is that the most expensive tablet is under $350.  Top tier specs + low price point = potential huge success.

You can check out Archos' website and see these tablets in detail.  However, we will provide a little more info on the Archos 7o & 101 tablets.
The Archos 7o features a capacitive 7" multitouch screen with a resolution of 800x480.  The Cortex A8 runs at 1Ghz and also includes 3D OpenGL ES 2.0.  Pricing is reasonably scheduled to be $275 for the 8GB (flash memory) and $350 for a 250GB Hard Drive version.  We do not know how much RAM will be on this but we are assuming 512MB.  The 7o also has a front camera, USB port, Micro-SD port and HDMI output.

The Archos 101 tablet has a 10.1" screen with a resolution of 1024x600.  The Cortex A* also runs at 1Ghz and includes 3D OpenGL ES 2.0.  Pricing again is reasonably priced at $300 for an 8GB version and $350 fora 16GB version.  Everything else is similar to the 7o tablet.

What is missing is Android Market.  However, Archos is including AppsLib which will allow you to download apps.  There was no mention of Google Maps or Gmail but these can easily be added.

Another company that we are excited about and look forward to test drive these tablets.
