Augen to Release 6 Different Flavors of Android Tablets

The tablet PC announcements do not stop.  Augen has stated that they will introduce 6 different Android tablets this fall ranging from $199 to $599.  As you may recall, Augen introduced its Gentouch 78 through Kmart.  Its quality was poor and had to be "recalled" since the tablet contained unlicensed Google apps.  Anyhow, Augen is bringing two classes of Android tablets under the Latte and Espresso Series.

The Latte Series features two tablets: Gentouch Latte and Gentouch Latte Grande.  The Latte is a 7" resistive screen with a resolution of 800x480.  Features HDMI output and a G-Sensor function.  Will have WiFi capabilities and 2GB of flash memory.  MSRP $199.99.  The Latte Grande on the other hand will have a 7" capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 800x600.  Features HDMI output and a 3 axis accelerometer and compass.  Will have WiFi capabilities and 2GB of flash memory.  MSRP $249.99.

The Espresso Series will feature four tablets: Gentouch Espresso; Espresso Dolce; Espresso Doppio; and Espresso Firma.  All will feature Android 2.2 (which will be upgradable to 3.0 according to Augen) and either a 1 GHz Cortex A8 or A9 processor.  We would lean towards this series. The Espresso is a 7" capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 800x600.  Features1 GHz Cortex A9 processor, forward facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1, and a  3 axis accelerometer and compass.  Will have WiFi capabilities and 8GB of flash memory.  MSRP $349.99.

The Espresso Dolce will have a 10.2" multi touch capactive screen with a 1024x768 resolution.  Features Cortex A8 processor, 8GB flash memory, forward facing camera, and an On Screen QWERTY Vibration Virtual Keyboard. MSRP $429.99

The Espresso Doppio will dual boot Android and Ubuntu.  It will feature a 10.2" multi touch capactive screen with a 1024x768 resolution.  Features multi touch track pad, forward facing camera, and 160GB hard drive. MSRP $599.99

The Espresso Firma is unique in that it comes with a wand pen to "allow the user to create a digital note taking experience simultaneously transmitting the hand written notes digitally to the 7" tablet." The Espresso Firma will feature a dual core processor with the main CPU frequency operating at 600MHz and an auxiliary CPU frequency  at 550MHz. The 7" Resistive Touch Screen with 800x480 resolution is also powered by Android 2.2 and will have 2GB of flash memory.  MSRP $349.99

Hopefully the quality will be better than their Gentouch78 tablet.  Specs look decent but performance is what counts.
