After much waiting, HP finally announces that it is launching the Slate 500... for enterprise. It will run Windows 7 Professional so this is not a loss for consumers. In addition, the price tag will be a staggering $800. The HP Slate will sport an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display. It will sport a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB solid state disk. It will also have a 3MP camera on the back and a front-facing VGA camera for video calls.
Included with the tablet will be a docking station and case. $799 is high for the consumer market but maybe fine for the enterprise market. The consumer market will fortunately see a WebOs version sometime next year.
Its hard to make an argument for a Windows 7-based tablet. What are your thoughts??
