Update: Notion Ink Adam Preorders - Hold the Orders

Two days ago we reported that the Notion Ink Adam was going live with preorders on Friday (yesterday).  However, AndroidPolice has uncovered some information that one should note and maybe hold off the preorders.  At this point, we would recommend not placing any preorders on this product until we get some additional clarification.  We want to make sure that this is not another repeat of the CherryPad scam.  However, we are not claiming that Notion Ink is a scam but do read AndroidPolice's post.

Some highlights:
  • Warranty Repairs requires a $9 "service assistance fee."  Not common with USA manufacturer warranties.
  • 10 day return policy.  Normally, 30 day returns are allowed.  Seems that one must return it within 10 days from the date you receive the product.  Since this is going to be shipped international to India, it is not a lot of time.
  • Unclear restocking fees.  5% repack fee; 5% service fee (even if you want an exchange); 3% restock fee.
  • No real pictures of actual device nor any videos.
  • FCC still has not approved the device.
  • Notion Ink claims it will unveil Adam at CES but they are not listed on the exhibitors list.
We have also emailed Notion Ink on the 12/9 to get some clarification on the product.  If they reply, we will post what they say.
