We sound like a broken record but another manufacturer is launching its own tablet. Creative Labs is introducing a 7" & 10" Android tablet. They will run Android 2.1 and feature either 8GB or 16GB of memory. These tablets will start shipping in December. Price ranges from $249 to $319. Interestingly, the 7" tablet will be white while the 10" will be black. The processor is a homegrown ZMS-08 (based on a 1GHZ ARM design).
Creative Labs is using its expertise in mobile media player to create a tablet where media will be its strength. These tablets will feature X-Fi Crystalizer which "restores lost detail and enhances the digital audio content to amazingly high levels of clarity." It will also feature high performance apt-X audio codec so that it provides Bluetooth wireless stereo. One can stream stereo audio wirelessly from the table to speakers and headphones via Bluetooth.
Unfortunately, the 800x600 screen is resistive which was used to cut cost. The 10" will have a resolution of 1024x768. There is also no multi-touch. However, the tablets will have a front-facing camera, accelerometer, HDMI output and micro-SD slot. Company claims battery life of 5 hours of video playback. The 7" tablet weighs .88 pounds while the 10" weighs 1.4 pounds.
If performance is decent, the price seems right.
