Enso No Longer Selling ZenPad 4 to Consumers

Enso has noted on their blog that they "will switch soon business model and sell no more on the retail market, for doing that [they] need investments, which at the moment [they] cannot find."  What??  Instead of selling to individual consumers, they will only be selling to... other resellers.  Sure you can still buy their products but only in lots of a minimum of 25 units.  So you have a reseller now reselling a rebrand Zenithink tablet to other resellers.  Now anyone can resell these tablets and come up with a clever name - AndyPad.

We did not know the ROM version in the detailed review but here are the specifics:

Version 0803 aka p7901a-eng2.1-update 1 ERE27 eng.root.20100803.140926

Kernel Version 2.6.32.9

There appears to be some confusion as to the actual ROM version.  Check this link and you will see that apparently 0803 is really 0804. It appears that the date got screwed up as the "20100803" reflects Aug 3, 2010. In any case, this appears to be the latest ROM except for 0809 which I do not see that Enso's website has mentioned.

However based on a comment that a member noted on that forum, Kernel 2.6.32.9 #1668 appears to be 0809. I have this kernel but my ROM shows 0803 not 0809.

Enso ZenPad 4 Tablet Review

Enso sells a 10.2” Android tablet called the ZenPad 4 (ZenPad) which is also known by many other branded names such as the WiiPad, ePad, FlatPad, & Orphan M16.  All which are based on ZeniThink ZT-180.  Our initial intent was to buy the FlatPad from Flat Computing but backed out after some mix up with the processor (see Conclusion for details).  We heard about Enso and decided to try out the ZenPad 4.  We were curious how a $200 10” Android 2.1 tablet would perform.

Most probably have not heard of Enso so I will give you a brief background on the company and then what they offer.  Enso Co Ltd is a startup consumer electronics company based in Hong Kong but with their main offices in Shenzhen City (China).  The company officially was started in January 2010.
