The Nook Color is one of the most popular Android non-tablet. Barnes & Noble launch this eReader to basically help sell eBooks. However since it runs Android, the developer community have created hacks to allow the Nook Color to run full Android and transfer it into a low cost Android tablet. For weeks, Barnes & Noble has been advising that a new Nook would be coming. It was not a new Nook Color but an eReader with a 6" e-ink display. This new Nook will still run Android (2.1 to be exact). All for the low price of $139.
Barnes & Noble is claiming a 2 month battery life on a single charge which is very impressive. We believe this black & white eReader is meant to compete against Amazon's Kindle. It would make sense for Barnes & Noble to launch a counter -offense since Amazon is launching two Android eReaders/tablets to compete against the Nook Color. You can pre-order the new Nook starting today from Barnes & Noble's website. It should ship June 10th. It would be interesting to see what the developer community will do with this new Nook.
