Huawei Technologies (based in Shenzhen, China) introduce their first Android Tablet called the Ideos S7 in the US. It was a $300 7" tablet. Although we did not do a formal review, we did post our thoughts after using it for a short time. The tablet performed well although we did do any benchmarking tests. Now, Huawei is launching the first 7" Android 3.2 tablet. If you did not know that Android 3.2 existed, neither did many of us. Huawei claims that Android 3.2 is basically the same as 3.1 except that it has been optimized for a 7" tablet. The tablet is slated to launch in the US in the third quarter 2011.
The MediaPad will have a 1.2GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, 7" capacitive screen, 8GB internal memory, dual cameras (5MP rear facing and 1.3MP front facing), 1080p HD playback, HDMI port, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ 3G support. Huawei claims 6 hour battery life which is actually not good. Apparently, a WiFi-only version will not be released.
